Getting There and Around
Rome is served by Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. Once in the city, the metro, buses, and trams make getting around easy. Walking is also a joy, with every street offering a new discovery.
- From airport to city center: The Leonardo Express train connect the airport to the Rome Termini station in the city center. The non-stop ride takes approximately 32 minutes and runs about every 30 minutes, with more frequent departures at peak hours.
- Metro: Three main lines connect the city – Line A (orange), Line B (blue), and Line C (green). Line A and B serve most tourist destinations.
- Bus: The Urban Lines (U bus) services the city center.
Visitors can purchase single use tickets, Roma Passes, or weekly passes from station machines, newsstands, tobacco shops (look for blue sign with a white T), or through the official ATAC website. Children under 10 travel free when accompanied by a paying adult.
- Single use tickets: €1.50 (valid for 100 minutes).
- Roma 24H/48H/72H passes: €7, €12.50 or €18 respectively (valid for unlimited travel for 24, 48, or 72 hours).
- Weekly pass: €24 (valid for 7 days of unlimited travel).
***Don’t forget to validate your regional train, metro and bus tickets! Train and metro tickets are validated PRIOR to boarding, but bus tickets are validated ONBOARD.
